Owen Sound Police have announced charges in relation to a recent fatal hit and run in the city.
A 21-year-old man surrendered himself to Owen Sound Police and was arrested and charged with dangerous operation causing death and failure to stop at an accident causing death.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
A male pedestrian was struck and killed while walking in the area of 5th Street East and 5th Avenue East around 3 a.m. last Saturday morning.
Police have not identified the victim.
Owen Sound Police say a search warrant was also executed at a westside residence and “key evidence” in the investigation was seized.
The Honda Civic vehicle police believe was involved in the incident was also located by police earlier this week.
“While this marks a significant step forward in the investigation, police continue to seek the public’s assistance. Residents and businesses in the area are asked to review any camera footage, including doorbell and dashcam recordings, from the hours surrounding the incident,” Owen Sound Police say in a release.
