The Port Elgin Pumpkin fun isn’t quite over yet.
A big pumpkin drop is set to go Sunday at noon behind the Saugeen Shores Community church (old arena) at Green and Hilker streets.
Pumpkins weighing hundreds of pounds each, donated by growers who don’t feel the need to cart them home, will be dropped by a 70 ft crane, for the fun of seeing them smash open.
The event, which has been going on for at least a decade, is raising money this year for school supplies for local kids.
Crowds can gather around a fenced off area and watch the crane drop the massive pumpkins onto an old piano and other objects.
Last year, they were dropped onto an old hot tub and a car beyond repair.
There’s also a candy drop.
