Huron Shores Hospice hopes to earn a chance to win $20,000 in the Great Canadian Giving Challenge.
In the Challenge, every $1 donated online to Huron Shores Hospice during the month of June enters them in a chance to win the $20,000 grand prize from Canada Helps.
Hospice Co-Chair Cheryl Cottrill says the prize would allow for the creation of legacy projects for the families and loved ones of those in hospice. Cottrill says a legacy project might be a plaster hand mold of the person, a recordable book to leave for grandchildren, letters and cards for life’s milestones that may be missed, or telling their life story through video, voice recordings or a book.
Cottrill says if you make a monthly donation through Canada Helps between now and June 15th, Bruce Power will match your annual contribution.
The first $5,000 in monthly donations accumulated over one year will be matched by Bruce Power.
Cottrill says, “Monthly giving means our organization will be able to count on these dollars coming in regularly, making it easier for us to plan programs, create budgets and expand services. If the last year has taught us anything it is that we need to diversify our income stream, to make sure we are not relying so heavily on fundraisers. Having a steady, predictable source of income through monthly giving will put us on solid ground to sustain the hospice.”
