Grey Bruce Health Services is increasing the number of visitors allowed for inpatients per day.
A release notes starting Thursday, (July 22nd) all GBHS hospitals will permit two care partner visitors to their inpatients, whereas previously they only allowed one, and it had to be the same person.
Outpatients attending most types of their appointments must still come alone however due to space limitations, if a support person is essential, they may go with them.
Care partners are those who the patient wishes to have visit them or come with them to their appointments, and they must wear a mask during their visit and maintain physical distancing.
GBHS says it recognizes the importance of visitors to the emotional and physical well-being of patients, and are looking forward to a more open approach when it is safe to do so.
All hospitals in Lion’s Head, Meaford, Owen Sound, Southampton, and Wiarton are following these measures:
-Inpatients, two care partners per day, between 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
-Outpatients in ambulatory care, no care partners unless it is essential
-Outpatients in Oncology, one care partner
-Emergency Department, one care partner, but consider going to the ER alone if able
-Obstetrics/Labour and Delivery, one care partner
-Pediatric under the age of 16, two parents/guardians
-End of Life, two care partners per day and does not have to be the same people every visit
